This idea was brought up by murked on another thread.
Sockets - Depending on the item rareness it has a set amount of sockets, which means u can put in a set amount of gems on it, with exception of super rare socket stones only dropped by bosses, which add another socket to the item its used on
Upgrading Gems - An item that drops sometimes by creatures, different gems have different abilities (Highering hit % [Only on Bows & Xbows], Highering the Attack on the weapon [Only on Meele Weapons], defense bonuses, healing per hit, added attack speed, Life drain, highering armor value on EQ, highering walk speed [Only on boots usable], + Magic Level [Only on Spellbooks and Helmet], + Attack Skill [Only on Armor], Elemental Resistance [Only on Armor, Legs, Helmet])
You can combine low level gems to get higher leveled gems, higher leveled gems have a higher chance to fail when you try to equip it, if you fail to equipt it the gem gets destroyed.
Socketed Items can be *reset* at a NPC for a set price depending on the gems on it but the reset destroys ALL the gems that are equipped, u cant choose which gem to take out or not.
You can only use one gem of the same type on every Item.
This would give the server something unique, and players could have the same items but still have unique ones since everyone has his own playstyle and everyone can decide on which gems to use.
So much more ideas for this feature but i wanna wait for the gems answer first.
Sure it would take aloooot of time to make and implement correcly without any bugs but since its a server that has been developed for 4 years i dont think that this system would be too hard for you to make, since this server is supposed to run long term, right?
